Life in the back seat?
My family (five adults) and I are heading back to Africa and looking to rent a Defender 110 for a couple of weeks. What's the view from the back seats like??? Aren't the seats slightly higher than the fronts? I'm worried that viewing game for hours on end will be uncomfortable for them. Something like sitting in some of the smaller commuter jets or business jets where one has to kind of crouch their head down in order to look out the window. Our other option is to rent a Land Cruiser (I know...) which I think has full passenger windows and level seating. Any thoughts? Thanks.

depends on the 110.. If its a puma your middle seat passengers will be eye level with the top of the door jam... the seats are too hight and the view sucks.. they will be hunched over to look out the window. Older trucks have a better view.

That was my suspicion. I own a three door and can't say that I've ever ridden in the middle seat of another Defender. Based off of that I'll probably get the Cruiser with some regret, I'm sure. It'll have to wait until it's just my Wife and I next time. Thanks for the reply!

If you rent the 110 you can post up pictures of your safari to the delight of your fellow forum members. If you rent the Land Cruiser you will have post your pictures for the soulless heathens over on ih8Mud - just sayin'.

I was making the assumption they are averaged sized adults. Im 5'8" and hated trying to look out the window from the middle seat of a puma... kids would be fine.

Three adults on the middle row will be fun for a few minutes.

I don't have a 110, but have seen the comparison made more than once. Forward View of the rear seat passengers will be better than average, but the view out the side, not so much. Hopefully the attached photo (start about 12:30 just to see the rear seat bit) will help you visualize it.

I'm six two. Last ride in the back seat of a 110 is close to riding while sitting on a church pew. Not recommended.

I'm just about to secure this rig.

I always wanted to safari in a series or defender through southern Africa, but it sounds like that dream is better left when it's just the two of us. At least I have one to take my dog to the dog park with at home Thanks guys for the advice!
