Lexington KY area mechanic

So the Kinetic Adventures team is planning a post overland expo east trip, where we'll be taking the trucks on the Kentucky Adventure Trail (KAT), and the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway. A good part of the KAT seems to be unimproved roads, but portions of it, and the byway appear to have some rather technical sections, along with quite a few water crossings where depth will be a bit unpredictable.

So we're wondering if there's anyone who has experience with a shop close to or east of the Lexington area should the trucks decide to get 'moody' on us. Hopefully it will be completely unnecessary, but it's always nice to have a plan B when we're in unfamiliar areas.

We've put a lot of research into the trip, and are expecting some cool trails and absolutely beautiful colors in the mountains this time of year. Once we're back home, we'll hopefully have a few good stories and a solid trip report to post up! We're also looking forward to meeting those of you guys going to Expo East!

Marty Powell runs a Rover part-out biz in KY.

He's probably your best bet.

Would love to get the details of the trip. Sounds like a great run.

Chris Ray (mud ruts) is a couple hours north and a first rate rover mechanic with a trailer. I would add him to the "oh shit we need help" list. (614) 301-1574

Great news on the contacts - we really appreciate it! That at least takes some of the stress off being remote with only two trucks.

As for the trip, we'll definitely keep everyone up to speed on the progress. We're going to try and post updates to social media live (where there's cell service) over the course of the 7 days of the trip. We'll also post up a full trip report, and an idea of what to expect if anyone wants to plan a similar trip. On this one specifically, we've been in contact with the individuals who created the KAT and the Byway respectively, and can tell you they're both great guys who've been happy to help. Since the area isn't as well known or as traveled, as say Moab, it's been a bit challenging to have the information / trip reports that you'd expect when traveling out west. We're expecting a bit more 'seat of the pants' type trip on this one, but are really looking forward to the trails - which quite honestly, seem amazing. The fact that we'll be in the heart of bourbon country is merely a coincidence...

If anyone wants to follow along at home, there are social media links up on our website - hopefully we'll have some great shots and descriptions along the way!
