Let's talk about wenches,...I mean winches

So I have taken the stock wench off the 110 and plan on cleaning it up, changing out the cable, fairlead, hook, controller, etc. I would like to keep the winch itself since I have an under bumper mount setup although I am open to discussions. What are some of the recommended setups. Are safety thimbles the way to go, etc? Where is the best place to mount the controller?
thanks

Clean it, service it and switch over to rope with the safety thimble.

Any concerns about mounting the controller box in the battery box instead of mounted on the front bumper?

Other than needing to run 3 very large cables, not really...

Bought synthetic line and a safety thimble from these guys:
www.amsteelblue.com
Very happy with it.

Sourced my parts from a combination of amazon.com and 4wheelparts.com.

If switching from wire to synth...check all of the winch parts for sharp edges...esp the tie rods...my tie rods were roughed up from the steel cable...so I replaced them (cheap.)

I also have the Warn wireless remote, which I like a lot (although will probably start an anti-wireless flame war on this thread :-) )
