Mid eighties - well 80-85, just visits. I used to live in Bethesda MD way back in the 60s. Even had an American accent then. I visited last year in February, was damn cold - colder than here at the time. Was a work related trip - a job I no longer have - looking for new work now, not easy paying for that money pit in the driveway....

Funny that this popped up today. I passed by the Rover dealer after lunch, and thought, there's really nothing there I crave. Sure, the cars are nice, but nothing timeless. I don't think there will ever be a time like '94. The Disco just arrived, as did the '90, alongside the classic Range Rover. The lineup will never be so strong again, even if quality was spotty.

These are the things that have happened to the LR3 owned by the woman who owns the breadstore where I lunch occassionaly:

1. Rear view mirror just fell off one day.

2. Brakes stopped working, caught on fire.

3. Constant problems with the rear lights working consistantly.

4. Really heavy, so goes through tires and brakes unusually fast.

5. Bunch of other small, related dash light stuff.

I had a talk with her about her experience with her LR3 and she is undaunted by all the problems. Said she will lease another one when this lease is over. Her and her husband did all their culinary training over in Europe, spent a lot of time there and fell in love with LR's while living in Paris. Any woman who can fall in love with a truck and is supreme in the kitchen is my kind of woman. She's a goddess as far as I'm concerned.

I like the looks of the LR3 and the looks of the Range Rover as well. Too bad we can't get one in a diesel here. Yet.
