Land Rover wanted for Catalog Shoot in NYC

I cannot assist with setting this up...just passing along the info below that came into the club mailing list...

Hello

I'm writing to introduce you to Aether, as well and to start a dialogue regarding possibility finding a club member with a Defender that might be willing to rent us the vehicle for a few weeks. Aether is a high-end men's line of outerwear, which combines performance sportswear with urban designs and aesthetics. You can visit our website at www.aetherapparel.com to get a feel for the type of stuff we are doing.

We are bringing an Airstream to Manhattan as a pop-up shop for the months of Nov & Dec and would love to be able to use a Defender for merchandising out side the store / Airstream. The vehicle would not be driven and would be secured 24 hr a day. Please call or email so we can discuss this in more detail

All the best

Jonah Smith
co-owner

below is some press we got from the Los Angeles AETHERstream

Cool. Funny, since he lists gear patrol in there, and I've spoken to one of the editors a few times who owns a Japanese Spec white Defender 90 SW that he keeps in NYC. Looking ST or SW?

They could use mine. I have a spare truck and a bike to use in the mean time.

I'd be up to providing mine as well for the duration, not driving it lately anyway.

Any chance you can PM me the direct e-mail address?

btw Hans, what a coincidence to see you on D-90 and a fellow Defender owner. It's a small world!

Looks like they aren't going to have a Defender in there after all, just heard back from him and apparently the place they ended up with couldn't fit it in there.

They're only a few blocks from my apt. They set up over at 47 Prince Street (at Mulberry) just a block or so South or Houston, a few blocks East of Broadway.

This could have been one of us, but the plot they were allocate wasn't large enough.

Well, at least I feel better that there isn't a Defender there. I would have been pissed if it turned out he lied to me about the space issue.

FYI, for anyone following Aether Brand's expansion, they just opened a real shop in NYC and last night was the launch party. Their shop is located in "SoHo" (in quotes, because I think you only consider the sections directly East of Broadway "SoHo" if you're in real estate, or live there. I call it Little Italy/China Town) for anyone who wants to go check them out.

Whoo. It’s beautiful out there.

Soak it up.

Because sometime soon, you’ll suffer your yearly case of the “f**k this weather”s.

But this place... it’ll help.

It’s Aether, a place for all the things you need to wear when you’re outside, now open in SoHo.

In case you’re unfamiliar: skiing, boarding, motorcycling, high-risk mountaintop art theft, walking around on chilly days. These are things that’ll be a lot better once you grab a jacket or high-tech polo here. A place where microfibers and science make you warm and handsome.

There’s a snowmobile when you walk in. Cool. There’s also a motorcycle in an LED-lit shipping crate. In fact, lots of things are in those. Like the Highline—a quilted jacket that’s thin but incredibly warm, which is sort of these guys’ MO. Also: axes from the Swedish blade gods of Gransfors Bruks and some handsome canvas-and-leather duffels to tote them in.

But back to the wearable stuff. Ski-and-board season’s coming. You’ll need pants. Tri-layered ones that are snow-impervious and have a built-in reflector system that bounces signals to rescue teams if there’s an avalanche.

You’ve really got to stop skiing into the avalanches

Note:
Aether, now open, 13 Crosby St (between Howard and Grand), 212-226-8349, see the slideshow
