Land Rover theft family busted

Land Rover theft family: Pay up £250k or face longer in jail

The Castle Bromwich crooks are thought to have netted more than £1million in a five year crimewave that saw them targeting farmhouses

A Birmingham family jailed for being behind a “Land Rovers stolen to order” spree have been told to pay back £250,000 – or face longer in jail.

The Castle Bromwich crooks are thought to have netted more than £1million in a five year crimewave that saw them targeting farmhouses in Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Buckinghamshire and Warwickshire.

Martin Warren, his partner Jacqueline Neal and their two sons Christopher Neal and Jason Warren were originally sentenced to a total of more than 15 years in February.

Now the gang have been ordered to pay back £253,322 or face more prison time.

The four were originally convicted of 11 separate offences including conspiracy to steal, conspiracy to convert criminal property and concealing criminal property between 2005 and 2010.

The investigation, which began in August 2010, identified two men, from Kettering and Northampton, as thief and driver in the scam.

They would drive the stolen cars to Birmingham to meet “the handler”, Martin Warren. He ran a family business in Forge Lane, Minworth, specialising in the sale of Land Rovers and parts.

He was supported by Jacqueline Neal who ran the accounts with their son Christopher. Their other son, Jason, also helped run the business.

During the investigation, officers found more than £1million had been deposited in the accounts of Jacqueline and Christopher Neal between 2005 and 2010. The Warren family, all of Crawshaws Road, Birmingham, were jailed at Northampton Crown Court.

At last week’s proceeds of crime hearing, held at the same court, Martin Warren was ordered to pay back £159, 928 within 30 months.

Jacqueline Neal, 53, was ordered to repay £78,154 within 20 months.

Christopher Neal, 30, was ordered to pay back £12,842 within six months, and Jason Warren, 22, £2,397 within four months.

Detective Inspector Louise Hemingway, who led the investigation, said: “This has been a long, but successful, investigation which has culminated in the confiscation of a quarter of a million pounds from this criminal family.

“Not only did they end up in prison for their crimes, but they will now have to repay a substantial amount of the money they made.”

Northamptonshire Police and Crime Commissioner Adam Simmonds said: “As a result of successful investigations like this, we have been able to run a very effective grants scheme where we can give the confiscated money back to the communities.

“So far, through the grants, we have been able to support a wide range of schemes and organisations across the county who are using the money taken from criminals to help tackle the blight of crime in their communities or give victims the help and support they need.”

Martin Warren was initially jailed for nine years, Jacqueline Neal was sentenced to two years and nine months, Christopher Neal to two years and Jason Warren to one year and six months.

Probably more than a few.
Leicester is the home of The County and Defender Centre although that guy's name is Mark something.

Seems like there's a lot do dissection and bitching on D-90 the past few months on some threads. Can we at least all agree that thieves should all be subject to repeated ass-rapings by a pod of AIDS-infected silverback lowland gorillas?!?
