Land Rover Sewage

------ Follow up post added April 30th, 2012 11:03 PM ------

A Land Rover drives down the street over a manhole cover when explosive gasses below cause not only the cover to fly into the air, but the entire vehicle. Looks like a movie stunt, but it’s real life.

What happened here is the left front wheel dropped in to the manhole when the grate failed. This flipped the rover. You can see the manhole cover before and after the event

Mythbusters proved its plausible, but not enough force to even shoot the cover in the air. The kinetic energy needed to flip the car is way beyond what a sewer gas ignition could produce.
