Love those old pics from the original brochures. Too bad you can't still get one for $32k and $34k!

It's fun to adjust for inflation and see how much in today's dollars it is. I wonder if the new defender is going to be that much...

I calculate $46.8k and $49.7k respectively? What did you get?

I'll bet the new Offender's base price point is that, or more. Especially more if kitted out for mall crawling. Does LR sell anything under $45k these days? After all, they are a "luxury" brand! ;-(

I get $49,909 and 53,028 (rounded) with 2.5% inflation.

Wow. That much, huh? 2.5%? Ok. All I did was use inflationdata.com's nifty calculator.

That's what I got pretty much. But with 4 door jeeps starting at 27 and topping out at 40, what market are they competing for if a 2 door costs 50? I'm curious to see what happens for sure.

Yeah, I think it'll be a hard sell if they price them starting out at ~$50k. Right now in the UK the Disco Sport starts at $47,500 and the Defender starts at $33,900. I think it's reasonable to assume they'll keep a similar price structure. In the US the base Disco Sport is $37k so that could put the new Defender in Wrangler price territory.

Ironically, legalities aside, they could sell puma defenders all day long for $50k+ in the US market.
