Truthfully, is there any point in these vehicles having a transfer case anymore? The 4x4 pieces really are a bunch of dead weight making for low mpg, extra cost, complicated electrics, and a heavy feel.

They really need to spin off the Range Rover line separate from the Land Rover division if this is the direction the brand is going. It is well past time someone stick a fork in it before the next marketing campaign suggestion of "adventure" rolls around (which, BTW, has replaced safari as the operative mood/marketing feel). Notice the ads now, showing the LR3 navigating road obstacles. This image they peddle, complete with the faux British accent, has all the sincerity of a tuxedo t-shirt.
