Land Rover junkyard in Jordan

I have a client on the ground over there and he stopped into a land rover graveyard in Jordan who advised they have a mess of lhd military defenders coming in. I have told him to buy all the unmolested dash and heaters that he can. As an afterthought i thought I'd ask if anyone here might be interested in a rust free lhd that will likely have considerable "patina".

Do you have a sense of costs of getting them from Jordan to PA - soup to nuts with shipping / insurance / customs / transport / etc.?

Thanks

Doug, I'd be interested in one. Of course I'd like to some more info on condition and pricing when you get it. I can pick up at port Hueneme CA. Sounds like a good candidate for an LS conversion!

Well, it is not like they can get any more scrutiny from customs.

Waiting on a quote on a 90 out of Alexandria @ the moment. Email me next week if you have sincere interest. My experience has been that shipping out of that part of the world is considerably cheaper than from Europe and UK due to very low fuel costs in N Africa. The trucks I have imported from that part of the world get no worse scrutiny than ones out of the UK.

From my guy on the ground there : land rover graveyard that will be receiving a hundred or more x-military defenders soon (all gasoline). They are generally stripped as most gear boxes and axles go to Sudan believe it or not. However, the bodies are in generally in good shape with little to no corrosion. Do you know anyone interested in importing a container of doors, wings, hoods, wheel wells, etc.? Not many station wagons. Mostly 110 3-doors, some soft tops

I am interested in a bonnet and wings if there are any that haven't been drilled for chequerplate. Prefer to work through Brian if you score any of these for a good price.

Well you should direct him to the thread so he can get it at cost. Maybe it can come in with a couple more.

He may be a year or so out though.

Ok spoke with my guy again. As with many countries in that part of the world a vehicle must be in fully roadworthy condition and pass a safety inspection in order to be exported. None of these can be exported as a complete vehicle. In pressing the yard on how many they will be receiving it was indicated there will be over 200 defenders to part out.
As part of the military de-comissioning the vin numbers are cut out of the chassis. Need to get pictures of how they do this since dumb irons are readily available.

If they spent most of their life in Jordan, rust-free chassis and bulkheads are of value.

It snows in Jordan. I don't know if they treat the roads or not.
