Well that is a shame. Especially if they cut the frame numbers, they are not available to export. Seems like a shop in Jordon could ready a few of the better ones available for safety inspection. But a de-comissioned frame is not anything that can be overcome. Nothing I want to be involved in anyway.
Thanks to investigate this and keep us in mind on this Doug.

As part of the military de-comissioning the vin numbers are cut out of the chassis. Need to get pictures of how they do this since dumb irons are readily available.

Yeah. Spoke to a former Seal /member of this forum who said he would equate going to Jordan like going to the midwest as far as the natives being tame, he also offered most people in Jordan speak english.

As of me typing this at 18:21 Zulu on the 30th of Jan, 2014, most parts of Jordan are safe to visit. If I was in the region I would have no issue checking out the Rover Junkyard in person.

Hiliarous! Actually it abuts the KSA, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, and Egypt-but not Iran. In terms of AQ presence...so does Detroit. IED's I wouldn't stress on, they don't just grow in the ground waiting to go off on Infidels. Jordan is an incredibly safe country all things considered, I'd have no compunctions taking my kids there if that's a frame of reference.

What timing. Am in Amman right now. But leaving tomorrow though will be back through for a day or so towards end of the month. Not sure from what I can see though that it would be worth a visit? Some nice roll cages assuming you could remove them ...

Looks like the end of the factory production line just before final QC check.

I'm in Amman as well and can tell you that there's nothing left. It seems that the military parts these out till everything is gone. Was looking at a previous batch of "police" vehicles which were in much better shape than the military ones shown in the pic Uncle D's posted. I definitely got some peoples hopes up including myself and Doug. Apologies!

Are you up for a beer Tallyrand?

Any Discovery parts, or just Defenders? I've been looking for a Saudi grille for several years for my D1. Last time I was over there, the ones I found were on Rovers that had major front end damage. The grilles were smashed.

Just saw this for first time

Lookin thru this section & just ran across this thread. Normally I'd probly just skip over it but my brother just started a tour in Amman also. He's been there a few weeks now & says the junkyards are massive in size & numbers. As soon as he gets squared away & gets the time he's supposed to be on the lookout for defenders. As far as safety, he had numerous people tell him it was one of best & safest Middle East tours. I also have a Jordanian partner whose family is in Amman & they all say that area is extremely safe & American friendly. I'm sure a lot of forum members know way more than this but I thought I'd chime in fwiw after seeing this thread
