Land Rover D130 with 1997 NAS D90 VIN#????

I was searching for a Land Rover service center in San Antonio.
I found a company named BRITISH 4X4 CENTER.
while i was searching their site , i found a D130 for sale.

Complete restoration of D130 but with D90 NAS VIN#..
My question here is why put this pretty vehicle on D90 VIN??

I didnt contact them to ask questions because i am in no position to buy this Beautiful HiCap.. 225k
All New.

check it out.

I'm pretty sure I have pics of their starting donor 130....it was an old 130 tow truck. Sort of "assuming" here because I know they had one that was untitled and without a drivetrain - but very early & original truck. I'm guessing they had a NAS that was good as a donor only so used the 130 bits to rebuild it.

Again, just hypothesizing here based on prior data.

EDIT: now I see pics of a white 130 that was the starting point....that's not the same 130 I was thinking of. So my basis was off .

The 97 was a fire victim from what I remember, they didn't use a clean truck and break it down. They started with the donor vehicle and a vin with motor. It should have a TD5 dash that was brand new as well from what I remember, not sure if they used it on the build or not. If you want more info and if this is the one I am thinking about I know the entire history all to well...

correct, a TD5 dash would of been a great addition.

British 4x4 bought this as a incomplete project from the previous owner which he had the NAS D90 that he was converting to a D130. It has the original NAS d90 bulkhead and drive train. The D130 frame, cab and bed were sourced and installed. A lot of new parts on this truck! Yes it does have a TD5 dash that we bought and installed it. All new wings, doors, glass, interior, suspension, converted the GEMS 4.0 to 4.6 with a mild cam, rebuilt zf auto trans, rebuild t box and more.

Why the front door hinges on the rear doors?

Looks nice minus the steering wheel and absurd rear seats.

Can't see the mirror holes, but if it is, then you have back seat drivers!

Look at last pic for mirror holes.

Seriously why would you use those?

Looks like nice work except perhaps the hinges. When is an NAS D90 still an NAS D90, VIN aside, from insurance and DMV standpoints?

In some states there are huge liability issues with doing this, and other states you just tell the DMV what the vehicle is(number of doors motor). I have heard of insurance companies denying claims because the vehicles where not what they thought they where insuring. Now this is a case by case, but has been my experience with building these trucks.
