My problem with increasing tax on cap gains and dividends is that it will depress the market some, and more importantly, that everyone always defends it by saying it isn't going to hurt the big wigs on wall street because they have so much. What about all the people who have invested for retirement? These people worked hard their whole life, saved money and invested it to provide for themselves and now we are going to raise the tax on their retirement portfolio? This is why we have a problem with seniors re-entering the workforce.

Top Gear hit this too. Jeremy did a rant on the Prius.
1. Nickle for the battery is mined in Canada - a highly pollutive action (mining, not being Canadian)
2. Raw materials shipped to Germany for processing - a highly pollutive action
3. Processed materials shipped to China to become batteries - God only knows the reality there!
4. Batteries shipped to Japan for placement in the Prius
5. Carbon foot print of decreased petrolium usage by driving a Prius is never realised
How do you off set global transport, heavy metal mining, and high plasitic content in the car?

IS THERE A FULL CARBON FOOT PRINT ANALYSIS ON THE PRIUS?

I saw a similar report when building a H2 there is 2/3 less the carbon foot print and not sure on the figures for the environmental impact regarding the batteries, but mining chrome and nickle is nasty

And being its all UAW built there no slave labor used in building a H2 its more people friendly... IMO its not even as ugly a Pious....

Nah, there's no boogeyman!
All the winey-ass sore losers from 2000 and 2004 are still here, (now thumping their chests!)

I merged these two sucky threads so that they could suck more efficiently in one place.

Unfortunately, there's no moderator function which allows me to send threads off to discoweb.

No, but during summers I live in an old growth hemlock tree, count butterflies, and go by the name of Earthflower.

It's "loser" idiot.
And if my parents were still around, they'd probably have more patience with you than me - they took in lots of special needs children over the years they were doing foster care.

Oh, and "your" is possessive, "you're" is the short version of "you are" as in the sentence "I wouldn't expect you to care about simple things like grammar when you're so ignorant about life in general."

Ah, the sorts of tongue-lashings you set yourself up for when you hurl dung. Amusing.

Here is a quick grammar re-cap for dung-hurlers or those who slept through second grade. You're on your own for typing skillz.

Two - written expression of the numeral "2"
To - indicating direction
Too - also

There - indicating place, location
Their - third person plural possessive
They're - contraction of "they are"

Your - second person singular possessive
You're - contraction of "you are"
Yore - legend, tales

OMG - I've hijacked this sucky thread! My apologies if someone was enjoying this suckieness and I've ruined it for them!

My mom used to beat me when I said "prolly" as a child. I deserved it.

No, No, No, the one that really irks me is "ax," instead of "ask." Like, let me go ax my homies. Me thinks to myself, "what, like you want to go kill yo' homies?"

Dang it, now I am sucked in to the suck thread.

At first the mere thought of this thread was motivation to look into the feasibility of this feature...

Then I got sucked in.
