LA for two weeks spotted first Defender

So I've been living in LA for two weeks now and only JUST spotted my first Defender out here (yellow ST with the plastic/fiberglass hardtop driving East on Wilshire BLVD near the 405)... Retrospectively they were EVERYWHERE in colorado now it seems they're truly a rare site

Oh well... mine will be one more to the mix I guess and many more people I'm sure will think it's a jeep

nope.. not kidding, TONS of range rovers (can't swing a dead cat type of saturation), a lot of Discoverys... but virtually no Defenders...

but yes, we need to meet up and have you show me the town...

Youre on the wrong side of town then. Come down to the beach. There are at least 5 within a one mile radius of my office. Mine not included.

I actually don't see them that often either...Did the yellow one you saw have a Lion King tire cover on the spare? I've seen that one a lot around the Westwood area. I think it's a Doctor who works up at UCLA. I saw it once in an employees lot there.

I think we all need to meet up so Barry can show us the town.

Must be the microcosm I'm in I guess... I'm driving a section of the 1 every day and haven't seen any along that beach; then I'm more or less through Santa Monica and into Westwood near the Federal building... is there a local happy hour or something where all the local owners bring them all together? Mine isn't in California yet and I'm having Defender withdrawals... I'm not getting enough fume inhalation, my hearings coming back and my butt if feeling far too cushy...

Hmmm, well if you really want to see some, drive by Four Oaks garage on Colorado and 7th in Santa Monica. They usually have a few there. I haven't seen too many up on PCH in recent years but I'm sure there are some kicking around.

Happy Hour...I was thinking the same thing a while back. Doesn't seem like people in LA with Rovers get together ever. I could be wrong. I'd be in. Maybe we need to start our own. A few of us here just joined SCLR.org. You should join up. It only took me 10 years to do it...

I don't know what the spare tire cover looked like.... I saw it looking down from the twelth floor looking west so I never got to see the back, just the front and the top.

yes... Barry needs to show is the town :D

Do you think they'd let me just lay underneath one for a bit to get my fix? I need to get dripped on... (and tear a knuckle open to really feel like I'm with a Defender)

I'm in... when/where (I don't know anything so don't ask me)

Hmmm, there are plenty of places we can all meet up at around here. A bunch of us are on the Westside so it should be pretty easy for us to find a meeting place. Maybe next week some time?

Brad are you out here for good now? If so welcome to the neighborhood and yes i think the idea of a rover happy hour is a good one. FYI i just had lunch on Abbot kinney in Venice and literally 3 D90s drove by. A black one with a brand new looking badger top (man i wish my windows were that clear) a white one with a strange license plate (maybe b.c. I didnt recognize it) and a Green SW that always seems to be in there area.

Three weeks

I have been out here three weeks now too... Pasadena/Sierra Madre and I have seen one red one. I head east this weekend and the movers are bringing mine out next week. It would be great to meet up at some point and get to know others.

Welcome Mark. We will need to get out on a trail when the 90 shows up since Barry and Brian are afraid to get their trucks dirty.

HA! Amazing! I didn't tell you mine never touch the street? I can't possibly get the tires dirty...I don't know how you guys do it.

Mark, I'm out in Pasadena all the time now. We'll have to meet up out there some time.

Okay... time to draw a line in the sand and stop the "we should meet sometime" from going on forever...

I'd be down for a D-90 owner happy hour somewhere in So Cal. Someone needs to plan this.

Places?

I am out till the 15th when I get the move done, but rather than going along on the thread, let's start planning a meet up...

How about the british pub in Sierra Madre? Lots of parking...

I admit, I am the last person that should plan this as I am the newest, but someone had to throw it out there....

In Calgary I might see one every four months. In seven years I've only seen 2 NAS 90's up here, one was for sale so I bought it and the second one five years later.
