L322 Range Rover wheels onto LR3?

Hi guys,

OK, am stretching things here with a non-Defender thread, but need help with some early L322 wheels I bought. In fact, I bought them from Ron off these boards, so it's all D-90's fault. I bought them to put onto my newly-acquired 2005 LR3 HSE.

The issue - after researching this a bit - is that the wheels have a different offset (57 mm for the L322 wheels whereas the LR3 wheels use a 53 mm offset), and also use an earlier type of lug nut. I think I have figured out the lug nut issue (the threads are the same, from what I can read), and as far as I know the weight rating for the L322 wheels would be OK for the LR3. But what about the 4 mm difference in the offset? Should that be a concern re suspension components or anything else? Have read that wheel alignment on an LR3 is so tricky to get right that it is best to have done by a dealer, so will the L322 wheels mess up alignment at all?

Many thanks!

John

Why did you put the rangie wheels on the LR3? I scrapped he 19s the came w/ the wife's lr3 (was tired of getting flats, bad wear, etc) and slapped on a set of 18s with over sized tires. No more problems.

Exactly, Paul - that is what I am aiming at too: I forgot to mention that these L322 wheels are the 18" early Hurricane type wheels that were an option on the first years 2003-05 of the L322. I want to use them to replace the 19" wheels currently on the LR3 so that I can run decent tires on the bad boy.

Cheers,
John

It shouldnt affect alignment. If the wheels clear the brakes and dont rub anythin then the offset is not an issue. Most common problem would be the brake caliper hits the wheel spoke if the offset is "off"

Right on! We did 285x60 and there is a HUGE diff from the stock wrangler hps. The LR3 actually moves in the snow now. BTW, if you go that size make sure you relocate the wires (drivers side) for the suspension. If not, you'll rub through.

They are Goodyear Wrangler MTR 275/65R18 so should be quite an improvement over the useless HPs. Thanks for the tip about the wire, I had read that also I think on Disco3. I am a bit worried about rubbing but I think they'll be OK. I plan to get Johnson lift rods also. This is also technically my "wife's" car but my 110 is floating its way back here from Africa very slowly, and so I am taking out my modding frustrations on the LR3.

Cheers,
John

The 10 spoke hurricanes never came on the L322 to my knowledge. They came on the late P38 and the D2.

If Ron had it on his 04, you should not have a problem putting it on your LR3. I am sure it was machined, to fit the newer style hub.

Had a rethink on this and have decided not to try to fit these to my LR3. The wheels and tires are up for sale again. Will try to put in the for sale section shortly.
