Day-um, they're proud of that gun. I bought both the Sig 938 (.380) and 939 (9mm) for less than that Kimber goes for.

Bill,
You could buy almost 4 Glock 42's for the price of one of that very expensive shrunken 1911. I'm a 1911 guy all day long but you can't beat the micro Glock for price and RELIABILITY! I'm not trying to start a brand battle but if you are serious about that call me before you buy anything.

I love my little Ruger LCP .380. With a belt clip attachment you forget it's there. Although it sucks to shoot...

Kel Tec P3AT. Simple, small, reliable pocket gun. Like any .380 it's only good for an 'in-your-face' conflict like a carjacking where you could fire at point blank range. Otherwise, I'll take my Sig P220 .45 ACP.

It always comes down to the gun you have on you is the best one. Size or caliber make little or no difference for 99% of the need, it is deterrence. I have everything from a Colt and Sig .45 down to my little Walther TPH. What do I carry, really carry? the Walther. Why, it is tiny, smaller than the PPK it is modeled after, one of the thinnest pocket guns ever made. It is a .22. Gee not a big gun. Well the three times I have had to pull it out it worked just fine, the perp left. Now each time I was riding my ber expensive road bike, out in the middle of nowhere. The last time (BTW it was in Miami, FL) the twerp and his buds pulled in front, cut me off. I pulled the gun and asked, "How bad do you want the bike?" the twerp said, "Dat is a leetle gun." "let me shoot you in the balls, tell me how it feels." They left quietly. See make or caliber does not matter, a good clean testicle shot will work every time. The TPH is so small, you always carry it, so it will be the gun you have.

When I worked for the UN in Africa, everybody had AK's. I hate AK's. They can range from nice to utter POS depending on who made it. During the 7 years I lived and worked in Somalia, primarily Mogadishu, guess what I had for my house or car gun? A 1928 US Navy double date Thompson .45. I traded my AK for it, guy couldn't get ammo. Well, when you point the barrel of the Thompson out the car window, everybody backed up, the bore size is very intimidating. Rather like a shotgun. Reality, if your in a car and they are outside with automatic weapons, you lose. So intimidation and deterrence is the key, fire the weapon and your dead. Hell your in a fishbowl, trapped with glass and sheet metal for protection.

TPH compared to a PPK, not only smaller, but much thinner. Build quality is naturally superb.

I had to look, and you're right. Both are nice little EDC guns.

Summertime...I'm with Luis...the old P7 works just fine.

Weather cools off and I've got a coat...the old P220 comes out of hibernation.

I'm pretty sure I'm into both of them for less than that (quite attractive) Kimber.

No worries,

I know nothing about guns , but I just happened to own one each of those

Some people are all moving to G-42 ( slimline ) , but I love my mini 1911 style EDC

Having never been a fan of Kimber (they are very proud of themselves), my world was made complete when Colt (re)introduced the Defender. I can carry a full-size 1911 and not have it weigh a tonne.

I have a 938 as well, as a "dress gun" for when the 1911 is a bit bulky, but the Defender is SO small, it's hard to find a reason not to carry it.
