Kids Defenders are pricy too

I was looking for a ride on defender for my 5 yr old son for Christmas and found Drover "home of the little landrover".

They look really cool, but having a tough time paying $6K plus freight for a ride on toy.

Kraig,

This started out as a "bad boy buggy", fully electric 4WD. Was modified with a tubular steel frame and then all the body work was custom built. It is owned by an enthusiast in southern Vermont who also has a few Series vehicles and a 97 NAS 90.

He had it built for his kids, and it's getting a full soft top and several other things.

My main point is that custom would be the coolest way to go

That is awesome!!!! I have a golf cart to ride around our property and would love to do something like this. But then these is reality, I don't have the time or the skill set to weld a nice looking bead....LOL

I don't see Drover selling well with the NYC crowd, no Boost option.

The home made one is pretty sweet

WOW!! that S1 is amazing!. 4wd it looks like, I love those flotation tires.. Looks a big larger than a real kiddie ride on but hey -nice work!

The Drovers looks nice, plastic body on a steel frame, I was never too hot over the MDF ones, it just seemed like it would weigh a ton. Those little motors have enough load on them without having to haul around a few sheets of MDF..

An idea for a custom - Find a PowerWheels in decent shape near you (craigslist), strip it and build a rover body for it. Upgrade the electrics while you're in there. Use plywood and sheetmetal for the body.. It would be a project but with the mechanics figured out already you're half way there.
