just thought this was funny

So this weekend I'm out at Death Valley for Rover Rendezvous V. While driving out to the racetrack the road is so heavily washboarded that my sun shade shook loose and fell in my lap. I screw it back up and not three minutes later rear view mirror fell off. but on the bright side My spedo started to work for the first time in six months.

lol, I took the sun shades off, and bolted on the rear view mirror because of that. I caught the rear view twice while driving the third time it almost fell out of the truck.

well this is pretty funny actually. I was driving down the interstate and my sun shade came loose. It was still connected on one side and fell down catching the steering wheel while i was going around a turn, well after the interstate was done turning the visor kept me from turning back and straighting up, yell that was almost the end of the end of the Defender but she pulled us threw it and i got it unstuck.

I had one of my windshield wipers fall off at the splines, it got caught in the roll cage. I was on I-40 going home in the rain...

I think LRNA should issue a recall notice for the sun shade.... I had the RH one fall off. It would have been funnier if my girlfriendhad been in the D90 with me.

My top started coming off at 85 MPH on I-40 outside of asheville...I was trying to catch my buddy in his mustang and all of a sudden i noticed the top was flapping a lot more than usual and i looked up and the snaps were popping off.

Could be worse....

I had my front SG shock mounts lose their bolts on the maiden voyage of my truck post swap. I was on the highway in Vermont. It was not fun.

I don't think it is. Did the POE come with jumpseats? I thought it was a '97. It has the full rear door.

I was thinking no rear cage, then it must be a POE, don't all SWs have a hoop behind the drivers? but don't POE's have the same spare tire carrier as the ST's?

YIKES!

And I thought having the windshield frame on my '67 Bronco collapse on my head while driving was bad.

I think the hoop is there, just missing on the passenger side. Look by the drive, you'll see the door pillar, and the hoop a few inches away.

I believe the POE had the ST tire holder.

Also, didn't the POE have a lift gate top?? That looks like the spare is mounted to the door, a one piece door. Is anything salvagable on that thing?

How long ago did that happen?

I need one of those too.

As to how it happened; Looks like a slightly taller truck, tall enough to clear the bumper/frame, rear-ended them at a reasonably high speed. My bet is on an H2 driver on a cellphone.

I think I know how it happened, work with me here:

This truck belonged to an avid papparazzo as he could follow celebrities anywhere and snap pictures of them. The increased height allowed him to snap pics into the vehicles of hotel heiresses and the stability of the platform allowed great tripod shots off the top ala MAR 2004 (for any there) for those hard to get shots into private weddings.
One sunny afternoon the papparazzo followed a chic` celebrity to a trendy coffee bar and parked across a park to catch the celebrity on the way out with their "tall skinny soy mocha latte". To ensure proper lens speed the fellow began snapping random pictures of people in the park. One such sample: http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...achmentid=2495
The "celebrity" in this picture became enraged and charged the vehicle like a rhino. Without major modifications the vehicle couldn't handle it. The owner is currently speaking to Jimmy Salmon to keep this from happening again.
