Just saw 2006 110 at local indy shop

So I am at the shop getting my 90 worked on and there is a 110 with Cali plates on it, td with all the fixings circa 2006. Any idea how these are getting over? Maybe brough over as parts and built? Guy at my shop said there are about 5 regulars that have new 110s that get serviced there.
Reason I ask is I would like to get a 110 in maybe a year or so if I do not end up moving abroad for work.

Somewhere between a VIN swap and a rebuild. Did it have a galvanized chassis?

I didn't get a look at the chassis but my friend the shop owner things this particular one was a legit import.... He did say he has some regulars that have done a rebuild from parts. I am just curious because I want a 110 and would love to have the new engine, that thing is a charm, and if I move overseas I want the ability to bring the best I can back without any issues.

Read the whats legal thread and make your own mind up about importing a truck. It has discussion on engines and restoration nuances.

the CEO of NIKE has a nice white 300tdi ROW spec lhd in white, it was a leagally imported truck through mexico and it has a clear CA title on the 2006 ROW vin. I've seen the truck, no idea how he did it though. Basically Money talks.

I have registered tdi 110's in CA that we made in the past.

I've met him. He told me he bought it at a used car lot in laguna. I think it came from south america originally.

Actually not sure if he is the CEO. Mark Parker is the CEO and he doesn't look like the guy I met.
