Just got an LR3 today

So this is my first LR3 and I have been very impressed. I have been trolling for an LR3 for over a year and this last weekend, i recently one came up on local ad (well kinda local if you call SLC local). It is an SE but it has the vision something pack. So it has the park sensors, bi-xenon lights, Bluetooth/phone, and sat radio.

So no navi or HD package. But really I have a D90 for off-roading, I would have liked the HD but f it. Really it's not ever going to be really utilized. I have a 90 for that. And navi, well the $hit catcher on the dash is actually pretty nice. And if I travel out of my realm it's usually involved with a rental car and an airplane.

The drive home was real great. All sorts of weather and got to see the features in action. Auto wipers what? Super defogger mode what? I have had many new cars but all domestic, none with this technology. I even drove a few lr4s in the last month but didnt get to play with all the options. The features that impressed me on the LR4 are still the same on the LR3. Granted lr4 is sweet and the new engine rocks. But the drive from SLC to Elko was right at 19 mpg and that is more than good enough for me. 75mph on the dot. So smooth. So smart.

So I am very impressed with all L R has done with the LR3 and/or LR4. This is my 3rd Land Rover and i haven't been totally sold on them previously, but as of now/recently, I will still be an enthusiast for life. I've always looked for a car brand that fit me and in more ways then one L R has always been my brand. We seem to have similar money habits lol.

But thanks LR3. I am very curious for the future.

Pete

It's an 07 SE 51k miles $23k.

So muddy day today. Took about 20 min of sprayer at the car wash to get the clay off. I love those terrain selectors. They really helped. It was pretty squirrelly without it. Nice and smooth offroad. Pretty impressed.

I've come to the realization that I may need to get a newer vehicle soon and the LR4 is definitely on the list. What don't you like about your Range Rover?

My 110 may HAVE to turn into a LR3 or LR4 in the next year or so. Can't learn about them if I don't own one.

Eric, that was the reason I bought mine! In the last 65k (bought it with 30k), I have replaced the EGR valve for a coolant leak, a MAFS, repaired an EAS harness, front differential, 1 battery, cowl/plenum at base of windscreen for water ingress to the computers under the battery, inner tie rod ends, fixed the rude noise from behind the dash, and most recently a thermostat fault. Still, 7 seats, drives well, seeing about 16 mpg but that includes hauling the D1 or the Kubota or lumber or whatever, in comfort, with reasonable confidence it'll be a round trip. Plus, it's helped me sort out some customer's LR3's. Only LR4 has been for brakes- belongs to the guy I bought my LR3 from....

I'm in a struggle right now as to whether or not I want to sell my 2006 LR3 and get back in a Defender, either a ROW 110 or NAS 90... not sure if I want to do that, or just get a defender as an additional vehicle, and keep the LR3 for the nice driving.

Man, these things just keep dropping in value. I am sorta glad I sold mine, but I only got $22k for it on my friends lot, the dealer wated to give me only 18k for it on trade in, so I took in the $22k. Mine had 24k miles, not even a scratch on 22's.

I guess you and I learn the same way a little trial by fire. My 2004 D2 was the worst car I ever owned but I did learn a ton from owning it. Hopefully an LR? will be a more reliable teaching tool.

I think the cheapest I have seen for any LR3 has been 13500 so far. It was pretty flogged out and had a salvage title from a bent frame. Seems like most are still in the 15-18k range for the 05-06 with higher miles.

I've seen a number of LR4s on autotrader 2010 with 30-40k miles and HSE's for low 40s. Which is a pretty big drop from the 50-60s they started as.

Seems like overall they dont have any major issues. Which is nice. I'm loving mine so far.

I thought the LR3 looked a lot like the Honda Element, LR4's look just like Elements from a short distance.
