June 6 Thank You!

To those who have never been to Normandy it is a truly humbling and moving experience. Let's never forget the events on this day in history. Thanks to all who served and those who currently serve.

Yes... THANK YOU to those who gave their life and to the families who endured the loss.

Normandy is an amazing place. The beaches used for the landings go on for what appeared to be forever. It is impossible to imagine the shear number of people, ships, planes and bravery that it took to successfully make the landing. Half my family perished under the Nazi's and the other half lived because of the bravery and sacrifices that started on that day and ended on May 8th, 1945 when my last surviving family member was liberated from Treblinka.
Thank you!

We cannot comprehend today the sacrafices made by that generation. We have the freedoms we have today because of their sacrifice.
I have visited Normandy twice to pay my respects, once in 2004 and again in 2009. I actually own a WW2 truck that went ashore on D-Day +1. I have met many veterans and thanked them in person. It is indeed humbling. Here are some of my pics.

All these pictures were taken in 2009. The elderly gent in one pic was a US veteran who Jumped over Normandy with the screaming eagles, he was called Ralf. He jumped again in 2009.

I will visit Normandy again next year.

One of the most humbling trips I've ever taken.

If you ever have the opportunity, it's time/money very well spent.
