July 4th explosive shenanigans: Not pretty

This is the result when the nice hooligans in the 'hood put an explosive device on your bonnet.
I played with firecrackers and such as a kid but dont recall using anything with this kind of power.

Holy shit dude... That sucks. Id get the police over there, maybe there is a camera(s) that got a glimpse of someone? Something with that power would not be taken lightly!!!!
Lucky your windshield is still in one piece..?

Cops

I called them. They looked and shrugged and were probably annoyed to have to write it up.
Checked all the buildings on the block but no camera caught it. Trying to figure out if repair is a possibility or id I have to replace. Right now there is a nice puddle in the crater.

New York..... You need to move. That sucks. I think I'd have a realtor out there before the police.

Looks like an M1000, or some dumb kids with gunpowder, duct tape and a fuse.

keep an eye out..kids will probably come back to examine and brag about their handywork...maybe get a cheap camera and set it up to film close to the car to get a good shot of them...won't be able to convict but at least you will know who they are and go to their parents..if the parents are decent (yeah right) they will get a confession out of them and pay for the damage..or threaten prosecution with homeland security being advised of bomb making activities...major crime if it was a homemade explosive device and i wouldnt want homeland security crawling up my butt...almost as bad as the IRS..

Check out Youtube, something like that is bound to make it on there. That really sucks, some people have no respect for other peoples property.

Keep your eye out for a used one. That's in the wrong spot for diamond plate.

Real sorry to see that.

I wonder if it was not of the explosive variety. A lot of slow burning fireworks can get above 1500 degrees C, which is above the melting point of aluminum and some steel alloys. Don't know what the hood material is on one of these.

Repair would cost about the same as a new bonnet if not more... Steven at safari HP has decent price on stock and Puma bonnets.

Give them a call in the morning ... They are good people! I have a batch of NTO stuff needing painting ... 2 doors and a rear door plus misc bits a pieces. If we find a decent painter we could have it done a a job lot ... Might be cheaper!
