Job help

Hey all. Anyone have contacts at Raytheon Polar Services Company? I'm applying for a couple jobs in Antarctica and thought I'd see if anyone here might know someone that works for Raytheon.

Thanks
Tyler

While I have no contacts, I have seen the jobs posted in the past.....unfortunately I forget where.

However, I do know that they are not year-round things because of the weather and how tough it is to get there when the snow is really falling. You need to figure out what time of year they are hiring, and if you miss that window then you have to wait until the next time around.

They higher in the fall, there is a very long list to get a job there. They also do all kinds of physiological evaluating before they even consider you for a job. You are down there from February to October and once you you are there thats it. One of my customers was telling me about it. His friend has worked there for the past 2 years, this will be his third, he only got there because he works for Kolsman and went down to set up new equipment.

A friend of mine has worked down there for the last 10 seasons. The hiring starts over the summer with people deploying in either August or October and end in February. They do have year postings but I'm not that crazy to try that. Hans the website might have been either www.polar.org or rayjobs.com

I heard that Ron. No you can't have my 90!!!. I'll hide it from you.

Not really, I think they are there mostly to maintain the satellite dishes and other equipment down there.

Depends on what you are qualified for. The jobs range from aircraft handler loader to janitor to field safety which are the people that train everyone that comes to the continent in survival on the ice and accopany the field science teams. There's even a fire department and small hospital. Basicaly they are all support for research that goes on down there.

I don't know much about how to get a job there, but the firefighters are trained at the Rocky Mountain Fire Academy (Denver's fire department training staff). I know a couple guys that went as firefighters and are now Denver Firefighters. There is a class right now going through their training out at the academy.

I will call the academy tomorrow and talk with the Captain over training. I don't know how much he is involved with the Antartic guys. But I might be able to come up with some phone numbers and maybe a contact for you.

Captain? Training?

Why was I not notified of such valuable job contacts in Colorado?

BUT, back to the topic at hand. Job fair for Raytheon Polar Services April 8th and 9th.
