Calling it a "knock-off" might be misleading though (for those that referred to it as a knock-off) as "knock-off" usually means cheap imitation, Chinese etc.

Granted, the Jeep would be 100% baddass if it removable half-shafts and hub design like the Defender, but the out-of-the-box Rubicon is the real deal, locking diffs etc.

The best part is that there will be hundreds of companies offering all sorts of aftermarket stuff, so if you wanted deep-dish wolf-like wheels I bet you could get them. The more I look at these pictures, the more I kinda want one
But, since its actually cool as-is, that probably means it will never get made as-is. Somehow it will get twisted, but yeah, the fact that Jeep did this in what seems to be a "back-of-the-napkin" stab at design in short time and Land Rover has been all thumbs trying to redesign the Defender fro what? two years now.........that says a lot.

Ha.. My jku is a great truck, I still love my defender but if they screw up the new one, it's pretty much over. The Africa concept is very compelling esp with a diesel.

What I find interesting is how well those 35 inch tyres fit the vehicle. It doesn't look at all lifted. The Dana 44s are a bit wimpy but someone will likely come up with Dana 60 upgrades. And the spare sitting under the rear of the body has got to be doing something bad to the angle of departure.

Not having purchased a new to me vehicle in 29 years I don't expect to ever purchase a new one but if I was I would give the African a real good look over. I wonder if a Dormobile top would fit?

Especially since the Defender was the only green logo vehicle that made any sense to me and it will be out of production soon.

Black and silver

Will never go out of style

Terri,
Dana 60's front and rear are in the jeep accessory Catalogue, you can even roll them into a new jeep purchase and the 8 bolt wheels, a jeep lift kit w/fox shocks and a double Cardin driveshaft, and those 35's.

Yah, the Jeep. They are nice to drive. We could only dream Land Rover could modernize the Defender without destroying it. But it is about the same chance as winning the lottery.

35's fit on a stock JK with no lift. You just need the right rims and new flares. Strength is fine with the Rubicon axles.

AND they have a good turning circle unlike any Land Rover, ever.

Exactly. Which is why so many are now 'tempted' Jeep is coming up with products that are progressively getting closer to what is 'important' to LR owners. It's irritating...but smart..

I totally agree you see 1000 Jeep jk's for each defender.
Every time I drive the d90 people stop me and want to talk or take a picture or it.

I highly doubt the new defender will have that kind of draw.. Esp if they make a lot of them
