No, mine only gets mad when I talk about modifying it, and don't go through with the changes. Usually I get them for christmas, like the jump seat last year.

When I built mine, she got sick of it and said she did not want anything to do with it. When I registered it, I did it in only my name (only thing we own in my name). When she saw the pinkslip come in, she is commented on why I did it that way and I told her that she told me to--and she did. We never spoke of that issue again.

Although she's reached a point where any boxes that come to the house (parts), she no longer asks what they are. But I've done well with the following:

"Why do we need a roof top tent and to fabricate a new rack?" -(Me) You'll really enjoy camping in it. Trust me. (She does enjoy the tent now. Loves it in fact.)

"Why do you need an Engel?" - (Me) It's so I can take you on picnics.

"Why do you need plasma rope?" - (Me) It's for safety, so neither of us gets hurt.

"Why do you want to upgrade our GPS?" - (Me) So we don't get lost.

"Why do you want to get a Disco II?" - (Me) So you're more comfortable on long trips and we have more room to bring the antique furniture you buy back from the auctions...

Subtle. But it works.

Let me guess......newlywed?

It has entirely the wrong tone, it should sound something like this:

"Why do I have to wash the rover, I never get to drive it? -(Me) You're earning the right to drive it.

or maybe....

"What's that deer head doing on the kitchen table?" -(Me) I'm making a gun rack, now shut up and get me another fawkin' Coors!

It's not important that she understands the strange things you like to do. And its okay if she thinks you're just a little scary! Go out and urinate in the driveway tonite (to mark your territory), she'll love that.

My girl has adjusted to the rovers, but she's still jealous of the dog....

when i first got my rover my ex hated it and bitched and mouned about it. then she got used to it but hated the fact i was talking about it all the time and working on it all the time. it did not help our realationship. but she is gone now. the new girlfriend told me when i meet her "you have a defender?" "90? or a 110?" "i love those things!" lets just say she kicks ass!

My lovely wife drives the Defender more that I do, can't wait for the 109 to come home, and is certain that we should buy the Ser III 88 that a local guy is selling.

I'm a lucky dog ... and I'm not just saying that since this is a public board
