Japanese/Dubai imports

Could a 97 Defender still be considered an NAS if imported ? Anything wrong with owning one ?

Use the search engine. This question has been discussed every time one of those trucks gets posted for sale.
Most have had the drivers foot well decal removed and or the vin is one of the trucks built after August 97 but rover still called them 97's. LR got caught with lhd NAS trucks manufactured after August 97 that didn't have airbags so they couldn't (still can't) come here and they were sold into rhd driving Japan and Dubai/Saudi etc to get rid of them. DOT has the VIN's listed on their site, once over a particular VIN the truck isn't eligible for entry even if Land Rover put "this vehicle conforms to federal requirements as of the date of manufacture" decals on it because the trucks did not conform. I have posted the VIN no's in previous threads.

Answer: it depends

Search vin range and build date for Japanese and Dubai trucks.

My 97 d90 is a Japanese import. Previous owner had no problems bringing it in.
