Weren't there a few other companys that did something similar? There was Minerva, and also Crosslander I believe, although i don't know if that one ever got off the ground, then there was one more I think.

IVECO is FIAT's Heavy Equipment Division, then expanded to Spain in 2006 to create the MASSIF ( Defender version from Santana after they ceased production in 95 +/- ) to finally get Metalurgica de Santa Ana " Santana " ( looks familiar ? )

Rumor has it that if the MASSIF makes it a direct competition to the Defender ( it should price wise for Latin Markets , specially Brasil, Uruguay, Chile and Argentina where IVECO runs 90% of the medium Transportation , leaving heavy loads to Scania ) they will buy Santana from the Spanish Government
