You seem to forget the Evil Empire own The Rover car name.
Aka British Leyland.

If I recall BL split into divisions Austin Rover Triumph in one Jaguar in another and Land Rover on its own, still being suck dry of all profits to support the loss making car divisions. But that's 40 years ago and I could easily be wrong. Time to check wikipedia I guess

Out of curiosity, how do you feel about wingtop and bonnet protectors?

From what I have seen, it helps while wheeling to protect against tree strikes and lets your use the front of your truck as a jungle gym

Not saying there wasn't some merit to it 40 yrs or more ago, just that today it gives me pause when I see/hear it. Itís an American thing. You refer to your vehicle as a Rover in the UK and people will think of cars like the SD1, 200, 400, etc. even some later MG's maybe before they would think of a Land Rover product.

Its kind of like referring to your Yukon as a Tahoe or something. Thereís (some) merit to it if you dig deep enough but that doesnít make it sound right to the person youíre speaking to.

Since the prototype Land Rovers where built with the help of war surplus Jeep parts then thereís similar merit to referring to a Land Rover as a Jeep if you follow that argument.

funnily enough here we often have the opposite, you'll be driving a 1940's jeep and some one will ask how old is your rover.
