Italian Rovers

Just got back from two weeks in and around Tuscany. I was amazed at how many D-90s are in Tuscany! Everywhere you look. That and Freelanders. Not so many 110s or Rangies, I'm guessing because they're bigger and small cars are the thing there. In Bologna, there was a student demonstration right in front of our hotel and the Carabinieri were out in force with some cool Disco2s with wild lookin' grab handles on the hood. I'm pissed that I missed pictures of the Carabinieri blue D-90s that I saw. Never had the camera at the right time. Anyway, here's my collection from Italy

I have some of the Blue boys - my wife was laughing at me taking pix of their d-90s.
My best, missed shot was a fiat 500 strapped to the top of a D-90. I can only immage the story.

I'd have like to have seen that! Yeah, I got quite a few rolled eyeballs everytime the camera came out as a 90 passed by.

So looking at the pix, I was going to ask the bottoms one looks like San Gimignano then I saw you titled the shots. I got it right! Recognised the resturant.
Did you get a shot of the street signs on the south side of town? There is a great intersection one with the white, blue and a third color (I forget which - to much grappa) all pointing in different directions but all to Fiernza. Same with Volterra - to any one reading this the signs color indicate road type to the autostrada - toll road very fast but boring, the primary rural road, nice drive and finally theback roads - most excellent way to find primo food, views people.

No, but I know which sign you're talking about! Green signs lead to the Autostrade. We drove all over and yeah, the signage took some getting used to! Co-pilot was essential. I think our favorite cities were Bologna, Ferrara and Parma due to the lack of tourons. Best meal award goes to Bologna. I just thought I'd been eating lasagna all these years!

When I went a couple of years ago. I saw a lot of rovers police trucks. A lot of freelanders there to. Here is one from Milan and Assisi. I miss the pic of a fire rescue d90 on the island of Capri. The shuttle bus to the top went way to fast to snap a pic. Would of been sweet to actually see the police lamborghini that they have.

Nice!

Glad to hear I'm not the only freak who snaps pics of Rovers while on vacation!
