Presumably the market will pay it and I will say that the ECR restorations are better than new by a significant margin.

Plus there is the significant cost of the donor truck.

The way I look at it, just like your house, if someone pays a bucket load for a Defender or the house next to you it 'can' make yours worth more!!

Where are the rear seats? I like it but the steering wheel needs to go.

What am I missing?

http://www.copleymotorcars.com/defen....3.1vo910.html
One thing that you are missing is that the engine has not been certified for us in the United States and the truck can not be legally registered in California and likely any other state that requires emission testing in '93 vehicles or of diesel engines that new. Limits the sales area to states where you can just get away with saying a '93 with diesel without them checking to see if a US spec '93 was sold into the US with a diesel or the year of the diesel engine.

A few years back there was a big flap about people putting 300tdis into older LRs because the engine was not certified for the US. The TD5 is just a tad newer.

to tell you the truth - with an NAS truck that has been converted i think, you have a slight edge getting it to pass. it started life as a gas powered - you converted it for fuel economy - to save the planet - to stop global warming - to save the panda's and anything else you want to use to your advantage when whining that it should be allowed with you meet the CPH man. =)

I don't know if you can register it in California but i know of many people who have nas diesels here. After they did the conversions they went to the DMV and they stamped it smog exempt based on the conversion.

Is the grate between the front seats a custom item or a LR part? Looks to be a way to keep the dogs in the 2nd row area.

Beautiful truck.

I do like those Icon's, just not as much as LR!
I think you can compare quality of finishing between two vehicles, even if one is simpler than the other, there are tons of stuff you can compare. That said I've never been close to either an ECR restoration or an Icon Jeep, but they're supposed to be the best in each brand, so I was wondering who is really going the extra mile, probably both.

I don't think it has been mentioned but time is an important selling point for this truck. Say you are a big hedge fund guy and want/need a truck to haul the family around Nan this summer. You call up ECR to order one and they come back with a 1 plus year wait. After a quick interweb search you see that Copley has one on the lot so you ring up D90boy and get the deal done. Easy peasy.

Btw, I saw an blue ECR 110 in Nantucket a couple summers ago. I don't think it was this one but was probably off on the price. Told my wife - there goes a $100k rig - but I might have been off $50k or so.
