Interior thoughts?

I saw this on a Defender on eBay. Interesting idea for a custom interior/dash, but it hasn't grown on me yet. Rear camera/GPS.

Discussion for interior, but if anyone is interested in the listing, it's as follows:

Its a bit clever, but it sucks. Sadly, this truck is фuкт in so many ways, its going to take a lot to un-фuк it.

The scammers have gotten ahold of these pics and have been trying to rook someone. I have seen it posted all over the place, by obvious scammers. Strange to choose one that is sooo mucked-up looking. Interior is interesting, but the exterior..............

I do not check PMs. Call or email if you need something.

ECR is not a parts source. We are not in the mail order business.

ECR. If you don't mind me asking, I know it is a double din Nav, but was there a reason for putting the screen lower? The backs of the switches? The depth of the nav unit itself? I plan on doing this mod in the future and trying to figure out what I am up against. I am thinking about a 7 in touch screen by JVC with removable screen since I have an ST. Sorry for hijacking thread.

Yeah, the ability to remove the unit is paramount with a ST for sure. Ideally there'd be something available that wouldn't even come with a head unit, and my iPhone could just plug in and be the head unit. I'd hate to have to carry around a 7" screen nav in my pocket, plus the phone has everything I'd need anyway...and I don't really care about a rear-view camera. haha

That picture confuses me. Updated digital odometer or a 1997 converted to manual? I really do like that ECR-installed dash much more than the one I listed; I think it's because there are all straight lines and the one I listed is too curvy!

I like ECR's too- but the vent knobs look new... maybe the whole thing is a new td5 dash?

You could get an Iron Goat one, like this first picture with a single din unit that you can either pull out or have a remove able face on.

Or then decide you want a double, like this second picture, and just not worry about anyone taking your stuff.

The switches & connectors on those 02+ dashes are very deep and mean a double-DIN unit has to be placed a little lower to clear them.

As JimC pointed out... yes to all of the above.
The switches are deep, the dash is shallow and to make it all fit it had to be there. .25" higher and it wouldn't not have enough depth and would hit the switch backs.

Its a full new dash. Customer wanted everything new.
You can also retro fit a partial of the newer style dash while keeping the original gauges like we did on this one:
http://www.eastcoastrover.com/159.html

I think the later model vent flap levers work better and look better so when we update the dash we always install them.

Excessive diamond plate kills it for me. Maybe I'm cynical but that usually covers sin.

What is the difference of the two face plates on the Td5 dash from ECR????

They appear to have very different cut-outs. I think I have the one that was shown second.....has a panel with a cutout for a single DIN (see picture).

Have you made a custom face-plate ECR?????

But if you look carefully the "modified" face plate has a cutout that starts very low versus the OEM which starts high.

How did they do that?!?!?! They are fawking magicians!!!

I heard that they farm out all that cool stuff to some sweat shop in Thailand..... dunno.
I think it's all photo-trickery...., however, I didn't see any white rabbits in any of the pics

ECR,
I plan on putting in the new dash along with a double DIN unit like you guys did. Do you sell the modified face plate?

You could make one yourself the way ECR did it: get some ABS plastic, some glue, filler, and the appropriate textured paint.
