Insurance for RHD UK trucks?

My son is having a tough time getting car insurance for Defender here in the USA due to cannot find the VIN.
Does anyone have a company they suggest? My trucks are NAS so non issue, but he has an EXmod. Thanks.

Never had an issue. Are you trying to get an agreed value policy or something ? Isn't the VIN on a plaque on the seatbox. I have three x mods here and they all do.

I think he means the insurance company cannot locate the vin in their systems..

x2 on State Farm. Just told them what it was and all they wanted to know was if it had seats in back and I think they also wanted a photo. They don't have any issues covering grey market vehicles.

I think the issue here is lack of VIN.

I've never registered anything without a VIN, so I can't help, sorry.

Don't misunderstand. We have a VIN, just the insurance company cannot find it in their system.
The DMV had no problem with VIN. Sometimes they get hung up, but this one did not.
My insurance company Geico cannot locate the vehicle by VIN. Even when she "axed" her supervisor.
Thats the problem. Another place we tried would not insure it as a daily.

Geico has done all of my RHD ROW trucks. Same story every time: we cannot find VIN in system, we will call you back, covered.

As for the State Farm, do you just call their regular auto number and then speak towards agreed upon value policies or is it separate group?

I have Farmers now, which is what I think I had with my RHD 110. I had to call them to insure it, but it was no big deal. I think they asked for a picture of the VIN because the 8th digit from the end was a B which would normally indicate that it is a 2011, not a 1985.

Are you telling them it is RHD? I don't recall volunteering that information. I certainly wasn't hiding it, but I figured there was no reason to make it any more confusing for them.

Mark: retry Progressive...you just need to give it to them, explain it is Grey Market and push them a little. I have mine with them.

Send me an email if you need any help - or specific numbers like my Progressive Agents info.

I have Allstate. Just called my local agent and he handled it. He did say that he had to call corp and get the vin added to their system but otherwise non issue. As I recall he needed a picture of the VIN plate and title as verification for adding to their system. He mentioned that he had several grey market cars that he covers.

Go to an actual agent, Don't deal with an 800 number, let the agent work it all out.

I did that with my series before getting USAA to cover it:

I had a similar issue, sent State Farm a copy of my Heritage Certificate and it became a non-issue.

Allstate is a regional company. The National Capital region will not insure grey market vehicles. I had my 130 and Treys 110 with them and went to add another and got declined. i went to the agents office and he called underwriting with me sitting there. The underwriter said, "he's lucky he didn't have a claim, it would have been denied" on speaker phone. We moved to Nationwide.
