Its not that the truck is RHD, if its imported some places wont touch it because they cant find it in the computer or VIN isnt long enough, etc

I ended going to my local agent and he got me a great deal with SafeCo. I ended up moving both cars to them complety

Look at Hagerty's or American Collectors ins. co. as you can get AGREED UPON VALUE. There are stipulations on mileage and usage though, may pay more also. Initially received quote from Allstate if totaled would have declared loss at $20k...believe my D90 is worth way more.
American Collectors gave me a better rate because went through USAA also. We agreed upon a value of what I believe the car is worth. Hope that helps.

Erie for all 4 Rovers (110 is RHD), 2 trailers, 2 Subarus, the business, and the house.

I just switched my 110 from Geico with a liability only policy to Hagerty with a $20k agreed value policy.

I saved almost $500 a year, and got the huge bump in coverage.

When I shopped my home and auto coverages to Liberty Mutual they refused to touch the Rover. So I Stayed with Amica.

Called my agent and added it. Paperwork showed up listing it as a Range Rover. Called back to clarify and was told that's the only 1987 LR in their system. Traded several emails detailing the difference but it didn't seem to bother them, I need an appraisal and new insurance.

Interesting enough, when I tried hargerty and they found out it was ex military they wouldn't insure. They told me it needs to be at least 30 years. After explaining that ex mods are not extremely different to civilian they just told me that the only reason is because they don't know enough and to try back in a year to see if it changed.

Hagerty wouldn't do my 85 LR90 as it has a winch, tow bar and I do more than 500 miles in a single trip.

They'll do it if you have more than 1 vehicle, or multiple military vehicles, or so the guy told me. The biggest reason they denied me was because I am 23. I gotta switch to state farm to get some real coverage on it. Or have it switched into my parents name, to run hagerty.

hello mark.
I had no issues adding RHD HCPU with Gieco. I added the Pickup with my existing policy and it costed me an extra $25 a month.. What a great deal..

Insurance woes

So our rebuilt 1990 110 is at the docks in Long Beach awaiting the CBP inspection. I have asked our insurer (State Farm) for a quote on the insurance and they are waffling. The VIN "isn't in the system" so they are requesting an MRSP. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

I would give them a rough appraised value to get you home. You should be able to get it appraised and that should be all you need. This is what I did when I picked up mine.

I think its all about who you get on the phone and if they want to go the extra effort to type.

Try calling back to get someone else, I had State Farm and they couldnt help me but I know others that they did...

Tell your agent to shape up and call the classic car group of State Farm. They have appraisers who handle this all the time. You should be able to get a temporary policy on the newly imported truck that you don't actually have yet without any problems at all. If you are having problems with your agent, try another agent and switch offices.

My experience:
1. Getting insurance for a Defender? Easy.
2. Getting the value for your Defender you think it deserves? Not as easy.

I would agree with the other post. I have mine insured with State Farm and no problems. I did have a classic car appraisal done with pictures and no problems....20 dollars per month insured for more than I paid. Good luck
