Independent LR shop near Fredericksburg, VA

Does anybody know of a good LR shop near Fredericksburg or Ft. Belvoir, VA? Unfortunately my '95 RR is not so simple as the diesel 110. I just need somebody to hook up the computer and print out the stored codes and then clear them. Pikes Peak Rovers in Colorado Springs used to do it for me for about $25 and it took no more than 15 minutes. The places I have called here want $100 and tell me that I have to leave the truck so a technician can do a full diagnostic scan, blah, blah, blah. Sounds like they are trying to make money. I am not driving a fancy new RR to pick up groceries. I have a 17 year old RR that pulls logs, hauls feed, tows any manner of trailer, gets used as a bulldozer, etc. I need a LR shop that understands what a LR is meant to do.

Okay...enough of my soapbox rant. Any help?

Thanks.

Paul

I think the closest will be Roverland in Alexandria.

Avoid Roverland, they are clueless. Isn't it OBDII? You are welcome to swing by Quantico and we can scan your codes.

If it's OBD-II, then take Jonathan up for it or stop by Advance Auto Parts and they'll pull the codes for free.
If OBD-I, you should be able to cycle through the display unit, right?

Or just get a scanner - pretty cheap these days.

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss...%3Aodb+scanner

Or if you wanna go fancier.

http://www.automatic.com/

Hope that helps.

I know a guy in Montpelier VA near Ashland that may be able to help, I'll ask and send you a PM. It's a little further away, but not a long drive.

To clarify you want a report on and clearing of the ECU engine codes on a 1995 NAS Range Rover. Is that correct? Please advise.

It's not OBD 2.
What does the underseat display show as a 2 digit code?

Thank you. I couldn't agree more.

I've called them several times and they were baffeled on the most simple questions. One time some kid answered the phone and pretended to know Rovers, like the Land Rover 110 was only made in 1993 and said I must be confused on what truck I have.

One time I was told you can't re-gear land rover differentials - you have to buy complete 3rds.

Another time I called in desperate need of some Salisbury differential shims and was told LR never had a Salisbury axle.

There was a third time I called and was so baffled, but it's slipped my mind.

It should be odb1 and you can either see and clear the codes using the display and connecting/disconnecting the ECU, or if you have a laptop you could use roverguage with about $20 worth of parts to make a cable. Come to happy hour in Springfield tonight and I'll show you the codes and clear them for you.

Agreed. Stay away from those clowns. I had my truck there three years ago to do a laundry list of servicing, and my impression of them got so bad, that I paid them to put it back together and drove off. Incompetent troubleshooting, poor communication, and expensive. Perfect for 80% of the NoVA drivers with blinged out Ranges, but a dissatisfying experience for anyone who knows better...
