Importing Help from Scandinavia to US

Hi Guys. Long time reader, first time poster. Looking to make my first Defender purchase and happen to be looking in Scandinavia (here on vacation). Found a great condition 1987 LHD 110, but unsure of import issues. Have read through a ton of the posts and while understand EPA/DOT concepts in principal want some advice on application.

Key Questions
1. Engine/Tranny: The guy put in a 300 TDI and tranny from a 1997 110 which while it runs great the car was originally a 2.5L TD. So knowing the engine swap importation issues, will it get through US customs if I swap in a 25 yr or older 2.5TD thereby meeting the equivalency rule? Or is there another method for getting it through customs with the 300? Also, do I need to do anything with the tranny? Presumably no, but just want to be sure.
2. Galvanized Frame: The frame is in amazing shape, but was recently galvanized and the frame VIN is not visible. Is this a importation issue or??
3. Interior: Finally, he swapped in 2013 seats which look awesome, but again want to know if this is an issue.

Thanks in advance. Best, John

Wrong engine and frame. It's a no go.

If the frame is original and you can torch the zinc off of the VIN stamping, you might be able to get the frame through.

It may be a nice truck, but its not for bringing to the US.

Contact Uncle Doug on this forum. He'll find a good truck to bring in for you.

Encoded in the VIN (1 of the positions/letters) is the engine type. Easy to find out in a web search which position it is.
300Tdi's is a correct engine for a '97.

Too funny because he states right off the bat that he is a "Long time reader" but he should have added "with serious comprehension problems". Probably LE trolling for someone help him break the law.

Don't see how this is funny, as I am just a regular guy trying to find a reasonably priced solid defender. Appreciate the completely banal comments however and the accusation I am trying to break the law and have comprehension issues. Very constructive and mature post especially given that I am new to the forum and just asking a few newbie questions.

Thanks to everyone else who provided some guidance. Looks like this one won't work, but hopefully will find another one soon.
