Importing from Jakarta

My associate who works in the Indonesian language service wants to bring over his dad's 1988 110 wagon. Clearly the eligibility isn't until January but he's asking me about importing it. Bad idea as all I've ever imported was a transmission.
He also tells me that Indonesia is fairly swimming in a huge Land Rover pool. All are RHD of course, but so are the steaming piles from the Motherland. I don't know what the climate in Indonesia does to a 25+ year old truck. Maybe they're all clean and have minimal rot. If that's the case this could be another source of Defenders. My associates are huge TV personalities in that market, so the ground work is already done.

Not sure what the question is. The hard part is getting it onto a boat in the source country. Assuming that the source is good (locals, family owned, etc.) everything after that is manageable.

I travel to Indonesia several times a year, and always see lots of interesting Rovers. Finding rust free trucks does not seem to be an issue. Getting one on a boat and out of the country likely would. I even found one for you, Bill...
