The 25 year exemption doesn't apply in Ca. It either has to have the DOT inspection sticker or a letter from Land Rover stating it meets all US safety standards. I just went through this. After having plates for a year I got a letter from the newly formed Import Task Force telling me I either got one of the before mentioned or I should proceed with selling the car to someone outside of Ca. You gotta love it here. They just closed the hi cap magazine loophole here too as of Jan 1
This makes no sense to me. The 25 year DOT/EPA exemption rule is a federal law. If the state of CA passes a law that says the 25 year rule does not apply here, couldn't it be struck down as unconstitutional?
