Importing ?
I've seen so much crap on the internet of what people think you can import. So I want to ask someone who has done it.
I'm looking to import a Defender from the UK. Finding one that hasn't had an 300 engine swap is hard to find. So can you import a 90' defender 90 with a 300tdi swap and a few mods (Suspension lift, roof rack, tire swing etc..)
Any help would be great....
P.S. Any Import/Export brokers you would recommend?

The truck must be in it's original mechanical/body configuration.

what he said. It boils down to the engine being the same type of engine it came out of the factory with, anything else may get it looked at in prt and cost money, even if the other engine is 21 years or older.
Cosmetic mods don't matter, they just might cause it to get flagged for further inspection.

I Just finished bringing my eurospec RHD 1990 90 from the EU to the US (Hawaii). As mentioned above it needs to be in it's original mechanical condition. Make sure the VINs (the one stamped on the frame, important) and engine number match the paperwork. I'm still very new to all this too, but I don't think the 300tdi will be allowed, as they're not old enough. Though I may very well be wrong. I bought a 200TDi Discovery engine before leaving the EU in June and is being shipped here as I write. My plan is to swap out the existing 19j motor when the 200 arrives. Didn't want to do it beforehand as I was worried it would affect the importability. I received the truck without any trouble and have been driving it on a temp registration here while I try to get it safety checked - the shipper knocked off one of my side mirrors so I have to fix that first. Good luck!

Hit up Uncle Douglas here on the forum or google Dividing Creek Imports he handled the import (head ach and hassle free) on my 110 as well as many many others here. It is what he does for a living.

x3 for Uncle Douglas! I've imported multiple ones over the years and would go with Uncle Douglas next time for the pain-freeness and ease of the whole process. Believe me…there is a reason it's called a "process".

Search function
I know you just joined.
The search and advanced search on here work really well.
Uncle D and a few others on here have cracked the code. Use an importer.
You can ask "what if", but be prepared to be schooled by those who know. No engine/tranny/axle swaps. No RHD to LHD.
And the answer to the original post is not just no but F-No.
You will lose money, truck will get shipped back, etc.etc.
Take your time. Southern Euro trucks are way to go, or go to Grays Online and buy a Perentie.
