If anyone works at or has a friend at Land Rover

I could use some help. The battery was replaced yesterday in the disco I purchased today. The nav/radio needs a code now. I stopped at a dealer in st. louis on my drive back. He said that the sticker in the glove box was missing that contained the code to make tunes work. He said that they have to pull the radio and give rover the numbers off it as well as the vin in order to get the code. They said land rover will not give me the code.

It would require paying a stupid price and an 8 hour round trip to get 5 f#@#ing numbers. Any ideas?

shane, call Land Rover Winnetka tomorrow (847)446-6665. If they haven't changed the system too much since I last worked there, they can usually look it up with the VIN unless the radio has been changed. Sometimes you do have to pull it and look it up by the serial number but most of the time it just takes the VIN (last 8 I think). Anyway, they look up radio codes for people all the time.

Did that and was given a code of 2212 by two different dealers. The radio takes a 5 number code that is on the sticker in the glove box that is missing or can be looked up from the serial numbers on the back of the radio in which they will only give the code to a dealer. Any ideas?

Well, the dealer should give it to you if you ask for it. You would have to take it out yourself or pay them to take it out probably but you are the owner, there is no reason they shouldn't give it to you. The other thing is, if they haven't changed the system, there is a place where you select the brand of radio because LR used multiple brands. Anyway, their system has a problem, if you give it the wrong brand it will display a code anyway. I used to just look up all the codes it would give me and see which ones were the right number of digits etc. and see which one worked. If you know the brand for sure, they should be able to get it for you.

Pull the radio and look for a number on it. Lots of times if the dash has been apart the mechanic will write the number on the radio when it is out. Worth a shot.

Also, if you have it... check your owners book ... I know when I bought my d2, the sales guy wrote the code in there like 6 times...
