I Phone mounting options

I was fooling around with a generic phone/GPS mount and it just didn't seem right. I can't stand having something stuck to the windshield. Someone has to have figured out a clever way to mount a phone. I have a MUD console with a single din head unit. I haven't mounted any gauges in it yet, just the head unit. I was thinking of trying to somehow mount something to the console. If anyone has any pictures of their handy work it would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Jason

Jason

I went with ProClip based on another member's recommendation and have been very pleased. There's a clip that wraps over the top of the dash (into a vent? can't remember) and a holster that screws to that. Fits my '95 d90 dash... is yours similar?

Clip: http://www.proclipusa.com/store/prod...nt-852583.aspx
Holder: http://www.proclipusa.com/store/prod...er-510164.aspx

Had to contact them directly to order because the website doesn't match on the model search.

Let me know if you want pix.

Looks like it makes sense, I will check it out. How's the 90 treating you? I'm finally all fixed up and on the road but far from done

RAM stuff is the best.

Here is their iPhone cradle with just about any mounting option you need.

http://www.rammount.com/NewProducts/...8/Default.aspx

I screwed a RAM mount base into my dash for my GPS....but would work the same with their iPhone mount...will attach a pic in a bit...

What's up with all the dust? Do you operate your saw from your front seat or something?

Does not look that bad without a flash...considered wiping it down and retaking the pic...but didn't bother.

My top is off from April to November...so it gets dusty and the rain does not wash off the top of the dash like it does the rest of the truck.

Wow impressive collage you got going there Dave.

Jason, here's my set up. They recommend sticking it on there, but I never removed the tape off the sticky tab and it holds just fine. No drilling required. If you can get the wiper to stop in another place it doubles as a road cam. Doesn't swivel and doesn't clip over the top like RAM, but it's a good viewing angle for navigation/texting/stoplight emails/ipod contol.

It's not an iPhone but rather an iPad but here is what I did...I could see making a similar thing for the iPhone. My radio is the center console and I send audio to it over BT.

I made it using a small lathe and had a friend machine the "head unit" thing from his mill. Done in an afternoon with good plans.

Not an iPhone mount but you said you had a MudUK Console? This is where I have one of my GPS units mounted and I find it a perfect location for both seeing and using it. I get less reflection off the screen than in other locations. A RAM mount or something should work and look about the same for the iPhone.

Ian, how do you have the suction cup attached. That is pretty close to what I am thinking of doing, I want to keep it a little lower to reduce glare and keep it out of sight

I removed the rubber part and just put a bolt through the middle and a fender washer and nut on the back. If you get a RAM or one of the other mounts then just get one of the flat plates that uses screws or bolts. Since you're only drilling holes in the console it shouldn't matter. You can always replace the console front panel later if you decide to go another way. I have a couple of blank spares they sent me for when might I want to change things around later. That GPS unit is about the size of an iPhone and that location is perfect for me.
