I need lights. Don't know what to get

My new to me 110 needs lights. It still has the RHD headlights. At this point I m seriously considering KC Led's. By the time I buy hella or cibie, bulbs and a relay harness it wouldn't be much more to step up and get led's and far less draw.

Thoughts, opinions. JW speaker still crazy money.

Skip spending the money on a harness and get the LED headlights. I have JW Speaker and they are amazing. I'm not sure about any other brand, I haven't seen them work in person. Photo below is what low beams look like and they are shining thru the mesh headlamp guards on my Snatch Bar.

I have the JW Speaker and love them. The shop I go to also had the trucklite's on another customer's D90. In my opinion the low beam is better on the JW Speaker while the trucklite's have a slightly better high beam. When off I preferred the JW speaker look as well. Great mod.

KC LED's Excellent Light pattern ED Angel Alaska runs them

Congrats on the 110. I was out over at ED Angel's place the other day. Ed was kind enough to hook me up with a Genuine BB for my new to me RRC SWB 90. He showed us his KC LED's.

Absolutely Amazing...we don't have much in the way of municipal lighting up here...and His KC LED's on His D-90 D-110 Lit up the Dark winter Alaska sky and road, I am sure He would be glad to share some pics...He actually stocks and sells them to. matter of fact I probably should buy some from him because I live up in the mountains..

just my 2 cents...

Thanks,
Tony

As the truck is new to you, keep your money in your pocket and just get cheap sealed beam units from the local auto parts store. Spend the rest of the money on the truck.

If any of you have a model number/source for the JW Speaker lights, can you post it here? I am wading through a sea of websites and have no idea which is correct.

Thanks

The trucklites do not disappoint. They are similar looking to the KC ones. Details in this thread. Unless you are on an unlimited budget ... I would think the difference between any of these LED's is marginal compared with the difference from a stock setup.

Install is very quick for any of them ...

I use the trucklites and like them.

But I agree with Chris. Buy some Hella sealed beams and save the $ for something else.

For what it's worth, and for future searches, I found this decent review on LED headlights:

http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/usmcdoc/lights/

QUOTE
Best Overall: J.W. Speaker
They outshone the Truck-lite and pretty much all of the competitors. Better output and better clarity but you get a smack in the face of price that makes people pause. The price to me is not the issue, you see a LED is going to last as long as 50+ Halogen bulbs. So even if you are spending $20 a light for replacement bulbs you are still above the price of an LED headlight. So this is one of those buy and forget about it purchases. Donít get me wrong, the Truck-lite did very good and would be a nice entry into the LED market. The difference between the two is what you can achieve with solid optics vs. reflector design with a LED. The light from the J.W. Speaker just left it and everything else in in the dust. Look at the chart, the even transition from side to side and the output at 500. You see down the bottom where the 500 foot readings are? Yes, other lights may have put out more light up close (100í or less) but that is where they stopped performing. The J.W. 8700 Evolutions put out more light at distance and much, much more evenly.
END QUOTE

I always wonder about the real life use vs just test numbers. Looks like he liked the Trucklite too, but thought the JW Speaker was better. Whether that means much in the real world is up to opinion I guess.

Anyway, I bought the JW Speakers. I also read that the anti flicker harness is more for Jeeps than for Defenders (read that somewhere on here I think). So I didn't buy the harness. I will try to update you guys with some pics when they come.

Jw speakers are the best. But trucklites are the best bang for your buck.... Diminishing returns and all that.

LEDs are nice but a true projected HID still puts out better light. Check out the Morimoto Sealed 7 from The Retrofit Source

LEDs.

I've got Petersons on my 109. 3 prong plug and play. You will have to adjust them to keep from blinding people (and making high beams useful again) but that is part of it.

They pretty much make my light bar useless.
