I Knew it...

... Been saying this for 10 years.

http://autos.yahoo.com/news/worst-dr...133016034.html

Least Likely to Understand the Rules of the Road: District of Columbia

GMAC Insurance conducted a study in 2011 that polled respondents on basic questions you might find on any state’s written driving test. Overall, about 20 percent of those respondents – 41 million people – wouldn’t pass if they had to take a written test. But our nation’s capital appears to be the worst, ranking 51st out of all 50 states and one district. Just 71 percent of drivers polled there were capable of passing a written driving test.

It's inevitable.

I def agree with DC drivers being awful...particularly those that drive cabs. What is also worth pointing out-something I already believed anecdotally-is that MD ranks 49th in the same survey (DC was 51st). VA...25th.

http://www.gmacinsurance.com/SafeDri...teRankings.asp

The confluence of all the drivers helps make this area extra special (awful).

Don't sell yourself short... GA is 43/51.

My wife is always saying, "Breeeathe" to me when we're in the car. I'm always dumbfounded by the lack of knowledge of basic rules of the road by so many.
I've been saying for years the written test should be 100 questions with at least 90 answers correct to pass.

I took my son to lacrosse camp to Johns Hopkins a few weeks ago. I was amazed by how awful the drivers were on the turnpike in MD and DE. I would come up on someone in the passing lane. They would finally pull over to the middle land, give me a dirty look and then go back to the passing lane once I passed them and when I would go into the middle (travel lane). I could see in sections where people did this it would back things up 20 cars deep.

NJ isn't great but people do move along on the GSP for the most part when there isn't a million cars on it going to or from the shore.

I've always thought Boston was bad...on a yellow left they just keep coming until the lane is empty. Of course Texas doesn't have any bragging rights for safe drivers...

Mass has the worst drivers out of all the states ive driven in. Jersey is my least favorite to drive in considering the roads are just setup poorly, and everyone drives like an asshole but very fast in the process.

With NJ just increasing fines for not keeping right we can only hope this catches on in other states. http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/201...move_over.html

I find driving in Boston fun, but you need to know their unwritten rules. As for Texas there drivers aren't great. Their big problem is being polite trumps the rules of the road.

Yep, like saying thanks for merging across three lanes of highway to drive 60 in the left lane. Nothing says polite like live fire...
(yes I know I have issues!)
