I felt the quake !

I'm not that close, but i can tell you all my shelving,
desk and stuff were moving for half a minute, quite
scary.

My thoughts for our Haitian brothers, they for sure
didn't need that on top of the pile .

I'm thinking about packing stuff in the 90 and going
there, but i'm not sure if it's a good idea, probably
too chaotic right now.

Shit !

Julien,

Don't go to Haiti, we need you in the DR next week.

My brother and a friend have been volunteering at a hospital in Haiti for the past 2 weeks. They left Cap-Hatian the day before yesterday to head back to the DR to catch his flight back to the States. Until yesterday evening, we weren't sure if he'd made it out. We finally heard from him when he landed in Miami before connecting to his flight back to NC. He was pretty much unaware of what had happened, though he said that the airport in DR had lost power just as they were boarding. As he understood, they were the last flight to get out before the airport was shutdown. He was learning about it from the TV's at the airport in Miami. We picked him up at the airport here in Raleigh, just before midnight. We were overwhelmed to lay hands on him and know he's OK. But we've still got friends working down there, and based on his description of the conditions before the earthquake, and can't imagine anything less than hell-on-earth. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them and all of the victims.

Will H.

That is pretty much the situation right now. The damn thing
happened right next to Port au Prince so the situation is
catastrophic.

I hope they will get big time help, this is the occasion
for trying to lift this country a little bit and get it back
on tracks. A lot of political progress was made lately
but it's still an economic and environmental failure.

Jorge, i'm in Santo Domingo. Are you folks living
in Sosua permanent ?
