I drove an 08 110 Crew Cab through the Alps on Saturday

Hello from Bavaria.

As some of you know I have been in Europe for the past two weeks on business. I spent Friday - Sunday down around garmish and Fusson (Spelled worng I'm sure).

While is Fusson I stalked an 08 110 Crew cab with hay and lumber in the back under the 3/4 canvas hood. The proud owner was over from Austria and insisted that I drive the truck. Sure no problem I say in very bad German.

We drove for about 30 minutes into the hills surronding Fusson. Man it was impressive. The seats were comfortable and there was no sound inside the truck with the exception of a slight purrrr.

THe 6 speed transmission was impressive and was the get up around the bends. Dude was cool and so was the truck. I left him with some left over Florida Land Rover Club hats (in pink camo as it was all I had left) and sent him to D90 for some American reading.

Few other intersting facts (if you have not been to Germany for awhile)
1. Bras are not needed in less than a D cup.
2. Bikini tops are still optional, but only if you are 90 years of age or oleder
3. Stupid Amerikan means the same thing as it did when I lived here in the early 90s.
4. The beer is still good
5. A meal at Mc Donalds is now about $9.00 US
6. Coffee at a cafe is about $8.00
7. Brats and Pommes are about $10.00 at most Gasts Houses
8. Prague is now way expensive (all except the red light distric)
9. The red light districs are now owned my Muslins (isn't that hypacritical)
10. 200ks an hour is all my rental car will do

Spent the last two days at various Auto House Land Rover (dealerships). Test drove an 08 60th 110. The smell of leather is so over powering that it makes me want to die. Excellent through out. Talked the last dealer down to 40k Euros. 90s are about 30k will 110 hi caps are 28k euros.

There are no spare LHD parts in Germany. All wrecked trucks are sent to the middle east and I miss my son.

Glad you are having fun. Just wanted to let you know that you missed a great lobster mini season last week.

I called to invite you to come out on the boat, but I guess you were busy galavanting around Europe. Good for you! The regular season opens tomorow anyway, so call me when you get back.

Can you fit that defender in your luggage?

The smell of leather in a Defender is hard to imagine to me. Although I have been driving my dad's M-B G500 for the last couple of days while my wife's car is in the shop. I imagine it would be a similar feel. Military vehicle with plush interior...

I had never been in a Defender that had "new car smell" until I was in Costa Rica and went to the dealership. It struck me as soon as I sat in it. Wow they were new once.
