I've seen that last video before - crazy and from what I remember he was only scrapped up badly and maybe a dislocated shoulder - which is nothing considering how far down he fell.

I can't wait for the warmer weather to ride more but those vids don't do much for my motivation - some of them are pretty damn scary!

A place to cure the winter riding blues is Ray's in Cleveland, OH. I was out there a couple weeks ago: www.raysmtb.com

Just ride! Buy studded tires or chains and go for it. I went for three hours last weekend. Nice as long as the ground has been frozen for 48 hours. Makes the summer all the sweeter.

I'm getting tired of riding my fixie to and from work everyday. I need some singletrack fun, too. The Kansas weather won't cooperate to give the trails a time to dry out or freeze up.... it is killing me.

ahh yes... the winter fixy... It's amazing how well those things go in the snow and ice. They're a bit slow though so more than 10 miles at a time for me on one is a bit much so mine is in storage for now (work is 20ish miles away now)

Holy Sh!t that is crazy stuff. I can barely keep my rusty beach cruiser upright on flat land. Of course if I tried stuff like that, I might slosh my cocktail that is in the handlebar cupholder!

I was at our trails yesterday getting a quick dig in. The temps have been in the 30's which have been great here in central NJ. No snow on the ground either.

BTW, I love that vid - I've seen it a couple times before. I wouldn't mind to ride some sections of that trail (but some of the stuff looks too nutty!) You guys have any of that up in your part of Vermont? I've ridden trails in Stowe that had some freeride stuff on it - fun as hell!

I can't wait! But I can wait on the crashes. I think I might pick up a chest and back protector this year. Maybe some arm guards too.

I always find it funny how I have so many snowboarding friends and only a handful of Downhill biking friends. Crashing on a snowboard is like falling on pillows, I really don't blame them. Downhill biking is one of the most dangerous sports I can think of right now. And I hate crashing on my bike.

Don't have stuff like that 'round me, but Highlands in NH is great, and there are lots of good DH mountains not too far away.

I got in some riding this past weekend, of course it was in Maryland, and indoors.... but still a great time!!!

(none of the vid is of my, I am not "quite" in that class of rider)

I have heard a lot of good thing about Highlands. And have seen some great footage of the place too. Dave Smutak designed and built a lot of it right? The family and I are doing a few weeks vacation this summer (Vermont, MA, and Maine) and I'm hoping to hit Highland on the trip down from VT. Also want to ride some of the Northshore MA stuff too (used to ride it all the time in the mid 90's).

That trails comp is cool especially for the fact they took a skatepark and made it into a trails course.
