The run was 26 miles. Winds were gusting up over 50. Waves were big REALLY frigging big . Boat is over 30ft but I was surfing down huge waves and punching into the next with huge clouds of spray. I was on and off the throttles for hours using the 600hp to stay in control. Many times the storm wipped me sideways despite my 7 ton weight and hp- amazing power, scared the crap out of me to be exposed to the next wave like that. The worst was the end, shooting in the inlet, where the stone jetties were obscured by foam and spray and waves washing right over them and over the dune beyond. Waited for the right wave and went in wide open navigating from memeory since all reference point were under water. Now tied up in a protected marina with floating docks so regardless of surge I'm good. Down side is I'm stranded on Kent Island, Maryland for the duration. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge is closed due to high winds in now in excess of 55mph (bridge is flexing/moving and grooving). So I'm stuck on the boat with only 2 sam adams in the fridge and no food. I changed into dry clothes and turned the heat on and have the laptop and wifi card so I'm good till as long as the cell tower I'm working from lasts. Wish I had more beer !

If you aren't living on the edge you are taking up too much room.
What no Pics?

Stay safe Doug hope all is well.

I got excited reading your story until the beer part and then I wept uncontrollably. Pictures might make me feel better though.

Good luck man!

I wonder how many NAS plates we are going to lose to this one. I think the fleet is about to get a lot smaller unfortunately, given how many NAS's are in the New England area.

You aren't suprised.

My situation has improved a friend on the island picked me up. I'm now on the 3rd floor of the Best Western with a room overlooking the water with beer and food and television.

130 is parked on the street @ my starting point in Annapolis. My 8k generator in the back.

Pictures ? I gots no stinking pictures.

I invited DB/Renching on this adventure since it was apparent the Fed Gubment was going to shut down. He declined. Listening to the news- DC's sewer system is backing up so maybe he's having more fun having stayed home.

there will be a flood of trucks at ECR I bet, we can keep Josh on all the salvage titles. I am sure he is going through his mental database.

Just finished watching my wheeler dealers dvr recordings and turned on the local news. There's an idiot in Manhattan on the New York harbor on a jet ski with a goPro cam on his helmet! What a moron! If he gets in trouble, the NYPD harbor patrol should just ignore him.

Stay safe everyone, my town in north Jersey (Mahwah) is now getting whipped by major wind gusts but relatively warm and no rain (yet).

Lost power like half hour ago, turned the generator on and still have internet. Nothing bad yet, I'm told the worst is happening tonight.

We decided to ride this one out at our place in NYC this time. The last time, we went out to NJ, had no power basically the whole time, and my truck had to be taken all the way down to fit in the garage. Then we came back and everything was fine here at our apt. So we're sticking around this time.

Bringing the dog out sucks, but we've been bringing him out every hour until this storm really hits. What sucks is there's a ton of scaffolding up around our street as a hotel is being remodeled. Some dude in our backyard left two 20+' aluminum ladders against one of the townhouses yesterday, and they came down in the first good gust of wind last night - idiot. Luckily not into someone's window!

I still get the emergency robo calls from Hoboken from when I lived there for a year, and the last one requested that those who are in higher floors to allow neighbors in the lowest level apartments stay with them - never heard of such a thing.

I just brought the dog out for his final walk and we could see someone's glass and copper skylight has blown off of the roof and down to the street. We have a similar one for our apt here, so I'm hoping ours stay in place!!!

I'm not worried about the neighborhood.

Don't you have a house to finish building or something ?

Yeah, winds are really starting to pick up on a consistent basis.

Hoping the water tower on top of the apt next to us isn't bolted down with rusted bolts from the 1920s...

Not to jinx it, but it's still fairly mild here in VA.
