Plenty of time to mount a gopro camera on your snorkle and get some video.

Water is getting pretty high over at my brother in laws. I swung over to get my nephew and niece. Already fired up the Stihl to remove a top piece of pine that fell. Mom nature was cool and let it fall right in between 2 of my new spruces that were planted in the spring.

Got the generator last night. All fueled up and test ran it. Plenty of flashlight and firewood stacked. All the furniture in the storage shed. Still need to dig out the extension cords.

We are high up elevation wise and on a slab so not worried about flooding. I am worried about some of my trees and some of the wind gusts that might be coming. The pines near the house are pretty thin from storms past and the preliminary winds are taking off many of the leaves from the other trees.

Keeping fingers crossed and hunkering down and see how things go. Might work in the garage to keep busy.

Winds are picking up here in North Jersey. Some trees are cracking. The "storm" arrives in about 4 hours....

I had to move my boat from my buddies exposed pier in Annapolis so after hours of repairs and prep (I burst a raw water hose @ the dock- quick way to sink but glad it happened while I had all hatches open and both engines running in gear to test everything) I left @ 11:45 this morning with Sandy kicking MD pretty hard. The run was 26 miles. Winds were gusting up over 50. Waves were big REALLY frigging big . Boat is over 30ft but I was surfing down huge waves and punching into the next with huge clouds of spray. I was on and off the throttles for hours using the 600hp to stay in control. Many times the storm wipped me sideways despite my 7 ton weight and hp- amazing power, scared the crap out of me to be exposed to the next wave like that. The worst was the end, shooting in the inlet, where the stone jetties were obscured by foam and spray and waves washing right over them and over the dune beyond. Waited for the right wave and went in wide open navigating from memeory since all reference point were under water. Now tied up in a protected marina with floating docks so regardless of surge I'm good. Down side is I'm stranded on Kent Island, Maryland for the duration. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge is closed due to high winds in now in excess of 55mph (bridge is flexing/moving and grooving). So I'm stuck on the boat with only 2 sam adams in the fridge and no food. I changed into dry clothes and turned the heat on and have the laptop and wifi card so I'm good till as long as the cell tower I'm working from lasts. Wish I had more beer !

If you aren't living on the edge you are taking up too much room.

Drove around last night with my girl and one of her friends from where they live in Avon. Driving around in the 109. Ran into road block in monmouth beach on 36. Went into the side streets in Monmouth Beach and the roads were already flooded the girls couldnt believe it. Water was coming in from from the river side. Asbury polic was all over the beach front to keep cars out. They had closed the roads at least three blocks out from the beach.

Side note that the FEMA overlay floodmap is pretty cool on google earth.

Arlington Gov't is now calling for sustained 40mph winds for the next 24 hours. Already have 5" of rain.

Sounds like quite the adventure and great footage for a GoPro. Glad you and boat are safe.

Doug, can't decide if you are brave or an idiot. No boat is worth a broach in heavy seas. Not sure if you're in a better situation now anyway.
