Hurricane Hermine

I know we have a few members in the path... They are talking 12ft storm surge in some areas. Be safe.

Thanks John.

Just the beginning here in the panhandle, but right in the direct path.

Right now (about 45 minutes inland) it's fairly calm. Cloudy, light bands of rain, and breezy.

Strong winds and rain have not arrived yet.

Thanks Abe...will do.

Just saw the hourly rain and wind gust forecast.... 117 mph gusts expected around midnight.

We're prepped as we can be, so now we wait.

Good deal. Glad to hear. Send a smoke signal in the morning to let us know you are good.

Thanks Chris. Power has returned for the moment! And just learned that one of our daughters didn't realize the air conditioner actually runs on electricity. Facepalm. Well, I suppose now she knows.

Unbelievably dark outside, rain is pouring, and you can hear the wind ripping by from inside the house.

We appreciate the storm here. Calm so far but great waves! Our area of the panhandle (Destin) has been quiet. Maybe gusts to 25mph and little to no rain.

Thank you, and please let her know that thing one and thing two are doing well! Curled up in two very large black and tan masses of fur right now.

Those big dummies can handle rides in the rover, gunshots, kids climbing on them, and all sorts and manner of chaos, but a simple crack of thunder three counties away shrinks them by about 80 pounds. Fortunately, we have no lightning and thunder right now, just howling wind and rain. Methinks they're simply dreaming about their latest armadillo kill earlier this week.

Good grief: tornado warning for the southern part of the county (we're on the north end) was just issued.

My family and I had a Beach house rented on Alligator Point this weekend - oh well. Thank you Brian, my brother just got to my moms house (in Monticello), take care and I will be rolling up tomorrow so let me know what you need (generators, gas cans, beer, ice) been there and done that half dozen times. Hurricanes are fun the aftermath sucks.

In Louisiana, beer is the one thing we all stocked up on for a hurricane party. I can't believe you didn't take care of that one vital need for hurricane survival.
