humming niose when key is on

When I turn the key to fire up the radio, there is a humming noise (fuel pump?) that I hear. Is it bad to have this noise when the truck is not running?

Where is the humming coming from?

Every time you turn the key to "on" you should hear it from the fuel tank for a few seconds as the pump goes through it's pressurization scheme.

Yes, it sounds as if its from the tank, but it keeps humming as long as I have the key "on" (but the truck not running).

Hmmmm, normally should only go for a few seconds unless the engine is turning. Maybe a stuck relay?

Thanks, Hans. I will look into this, as I don't think it should keep humming like that. I appreciate the help.
