Hey wait a minute! Better garage and golf course then the bar...

This entire post has made my day. For me the secret was a big house where I can hide mine, my dad's, some dude's that I saw sitting on the street getting ticketed(yup the city wanted to tow it, I reached out to the owner who lives is WA and I am in CA and there you have it), oh and buy her one.

And the Rover that was down gets cannabalized to keep the others going until your latest order of parts arrives

Land Rovers are cool that is how you justify more than one. I already had two, arguably the only two one really needs (110, S2), and in the last 30 days I bought two more (NAS90, 1995 Classic). The GF is always supportive, she says it is "my money to do with as I please" and she gets to ride in them. Plus she got tired of me crying over having sold my NAS90 SW. LOL! She doesn't, however, really like driving them. Which is better due to their various idiosyncrasies.

I think Raub's signature line said it all.

No longer having a wife means justifying nothing to anyone other than yourself.

Unfortunately all my money and spare time goes into building materials to rebuild a 2800sf farm house that is sagging, was crooked in the first place before the sag, built by farmers who must have used string instead of a yard stick. Its almost like owning a damn large boat again.

There is no nobler activity. I am reviving an 1827 farmhouse that was built by a cabinet maker so it's not so bad off. It's always startling to me to uncover a piece of workmanship created by someone who's been in the ground for 150 years.

The earliest part of mine dates to around 1810 and is federal in style. That was a single room with a garret bedroom above. The rest of the house is a series of additions from different periods and totally different styles over the past 200 years.

One of the most notable short comings is there was absolutely no form of insulation anywhere in this house.
